This is love. As a friend, she values love highly. It ranks at the top of her list. And this, this is exactly it.

As soon she wakes up, eyes still closed and perfectly dorm and still, her mind kickstarts into working. In these first seconds of being awake, she never has any knowledge of any life before it.

Through her closed eyelids, a dim light shines upon her and when she opens her eyes, she closes them immediately again. Not so dim after all. She rolls over in the not so comfortable bed, which was definitely not her own. Come to think of it, she wasn't in her own sleeping gear, either. Nothing at all, to be precise. Okay, save for her knickers, but that was that.

Lazily, she opens her eyes wide at the epiphany. Next to her, the other half of the bed lies unmade. Her mind races through all the possibly scenarios while she runs her hand through the blankets, feeling a still warm spot underneath. Okay, now she was definitely panicking.

"Oh, hi there. Goodmorning sunshine." comes a warm voice from the right. With a jerk, she inspects the person, and remembers some shards of yesterday.

"Heather." she yells muffled to her, as if there were other people around, which is obviously not the case, she notices, as the fog in her head subsides a little.

"Hi." she nods to her, leaning into the doorpost while she takes another bite from the sandwich she's eating.

"Why am I naked?" she demands to know in an increasingly panicking voice upon the visual of her fellow wearing basically the same.

"Because sleeping with your clothes on leaves you with the imprint of the seams for the rest of the day." she informs, oblivious to any problems.

"How did that happen?" she shoots back, not averting her gaze any second.

"I undressed you." she deadpans back, widening her eyes a bit.

"I am a back up dancer, you know, seven seconds to change backstage. It's not like I haven't seen naked girls before or something." she explains, like it is the most normal thing in the world.

"Although you're quite a sight to see." she blurts out, shamelessly eying every inch of exposed skin, making her pull up the blankets to just underneath the skin for what seems to be an eternity before the girl heads back to the kitchen.

"What do you want for breakfast?" comes from the place she went to. She looks to the blinding beam of light, not in her direct line of sight anymore, and concludes it seeps through the curtains of the small bedroom, shielding the dwelling from the outside.

"Two eggs, please." she replies as she rises, taking the blankets with her to retain some warmth on this early morning, although she bets it's going to be a warm Mojave day.

"Hard boiled slices when you're at it." she adds as she shifts the curtains. A desolate desert landscape greets her, clouds of dust being blown into the air.

"Noted." comes from the kitchen, along with the noise of kitchenware being prepared for her order.

"Where are we?" she asks, genuinely wondering.

"Mars." comes an arid answer, and for one heartbeat, she has no problem believing it.

"Hurr hurr, you jester."

"Hee hee. Do you see a dirty yellow sky with a blue Sunrise?" she asks like it's common knowledge.

"Here's your first egg." she announces, handing over a plate. She looks at it, looks back at her and looks again as she realizes her plan.

"Yeah, nice try. Sorry, but I like my modesty." she says. The other girl grins at her failed attempt and picks up a slice.

"Open your mouth." she orders and drops the slice as she obeys.

"Good girl." she grins and puts the plate on the sill plate.

"Get dressed, we're leaving in an hour." she informs as she slides back on the bed, grabbing her trousers.

"Where are we?" she asks again, taking another slice right after.

"Arizona." she states as she fastens her belt and pulls up her socks.

"Where in Arizona?"

" Arizona. I don't know, how should I know?" she says as she laces her boots. Damn, they are truly monstrous.

"Well, because you are the one with the bike, perhaps? How did we end up here, anyway?"

"Oh, yeah, you are right." she mumbles, seemingly in a moment of clarity.

"You don't remember?"

"I'm an easy date. I had two beers yesterday, I'm drawing a blank after I hopped on."

"Oh. Okay. Well, after we left, we drove for a while and after a few hundred miles, I felt you going limp against me, so I decided to pull over and call it a night."

"And then you dragged me in, undressed me and laid me to sleep?"

"Basically." she answers after two seconds of thinking.

"And nothing else happened?"

"We slept."

"No shit, Sherlock." she taunts her jokingly.

"I mean, together?" she adds.

"Of course, just that the rooms are cheap doesn't mean I plan on wasting my hard earned shiny coins on it." still not aware of the double entendre.

"Please tell me you know what I mean." she practically begs while eating the last slice.

"No." she replies with a frown.

"Oh." she utters as it finally hits her.

"Oh, wow." she adds in total amazement.

"Why didn't I even think of that. Stupid me." she says with an annoyed face in response to her amused grin.

"What?"

"You're so cute. The one moment, you say nakedness is no big deal. The second after, you are disappointed you let a perfect chance slip with open eyes."

"Hush you." she yells with a smirk.

"I don't want to talk about it." she laughs in answer to her widening smile.

"Besides, that would be rape." she states seriously. She gazes up at her and two seconds later, the room is filled with loud laughter, the loosening of her grip causing the blanket to fall down.

"Oh. Hello." she says childishly happy to the visually embarrassed girl before getting the blanket thrown at her.

"Give me a break." she grins shy as she turns away from her.

"Ha. No seriously, do you ever look in the mirror?"

"Shut it, boy. Your mom is waiting to pick you up for high school." she snorts back.

"Listen, I'm going to fill up Nancy, put your clothes on. Or not. I like it either way." she grins as she gets up and grabs her jacket. She walks over to the other girl and softly places her hand in the nape of her neck, running it all around her throat to the other side of her neck, leaning into her.

"You're beautiful." she wishers simply before placing a lingering peck on her shoulder.

"Don't ever forget that, never." she breathes as she opens the door, letting the turbulent cooler air flow in.

"Never." she firmly but softly adds finally as she looks out and follows her gaze, closing the door after her, drowning the room in perfect silence again. Amazed, pleasantly shocked, slightly stunned and feeling a whole lot of different emotions, she's back in her own world.

She isn't sure what this is growing into, but she thinks she likes it. She likes it.

This is love. As a friend, she values love highly. It ranks at the top of her list. And this, this is exactly it.
